LIANG Yi Fen
LIANG Yi Fen (b.1937) was born in Changhua, Taiwan. LIANG graduated from the Department of Arts at Taiwan Provincial Normal School (now NTUE) in 1957. Later, he moved to Taichung to learn painting from LI Chun Shan and joined the Fine Arts Association of Middle Taiwan. Later in 1965, LIANG’s work was selected from the Sao Paulo Art Biennial, Brazil. He founded the “Modern Eyes Group” in 1982, and the “Modern Painting Society of the Republic of China” in 1983. In 1987, LIANG set up a studio in SoHo, Manhattan, favored by the art market in the U.S., and held many solo exhibitions. The theme of LIANG’s works focuses on figures, using black as the base and white lines as outlines. Although the painting technique is simple, LIANG can fully present the graceful body curves of women and combines folk-style colors to show his rich artistic creations that are unique in contemporary art.
