北川宏人，1967年出生於日本滋賀縣大津市，1989年於金澤美術工藝大學雕塑科畢業，1998年於義大利卡拉拉藝術學院雕塑組畢業。早期的作品媒材非常多樣，青銅等金屬或蠟等都是常用的媒材。北川宏人最知名的就是人形雕塑作品，他以現代年輕人的形象作為雕塑主題。其作品反映了時下年輕人的心境及特質，有的充滿了自信，有的卻顯得疏離寂寞，焦慮。其作品參加過多次個展，如2003年到2008年在大阪的井上佳昭畫廊的四次個展、2002年在米蘭的舒適空間《瑪芮拉當代藝術》以及2009年在台北誠品畫廊的個展。另外，在2005年以及2007到2010年，北川都有參加「東京藝術博覽會」。

Born in 1967 in Otsu city, Shiga prefecture, Japan. Hiroto Kitagawa graduated from the Kanazawa College of Art in 1989 and Academy of fine Arts, Carrara, Italy in 1998, majoring in Sculpture. The most famous work of his is the human shaped sculpture which using the younger generation’s appearance as topic to stimulate their character and state of mind. His works has participate many solo exhibitions, such as four solo exhibitions in Yoshiaki Inoue Gallery during 2003 and 2008 in Osaka, the Marella Arte Contemporanea in 2oo2 in Milan, and the one on Eslite Gallery in 2009 in Taipei.
